Looking For A Property In A School Catchment Area?

As parents we all want the best for our children and giving them the best opportunity to learn and succeed in future is getting them into a school that is respected with high standards for its pupils.

However, sometimes it can be hard to secure a place in the desired school you have chosen for your offspring. The process often boils down to catchment area issues - The problem is, that even if you do live in the area you can’t necessarily be sure you’ll be guaranteed a place at your preferred school as it depends on the specific rules given by local authorities - although if you have bought a property within the catchment area you you have a much better chance of succeeding in your chosen school. 

If you’re not in a certain radius or postcode of a certain school, then you have to apply to the government and fill out a form. You are then requested to pick your top three choices of schools you want your child to go to, which is then reviewed and decided upon - often one of the first things families or first time buyers starting a family consider when searching for a property is the catchment area. 

When it comes to parents ensuring their your son/daughter get into the right school, it can be competitive to say the least - getting your child into the best school in the catchment can be a sense of achievement for you and your family going forward - as little Jimmy or Jane, they’re probably only too bothered about which friends they will still be able to ‘hang out’ with at the their potential new school.

Even some of our clients in the past have taken steps to get within a specific catchment, buying and letting properties just a few hundred yards from the school and subsequently living there for a short period of time - this in turn enabled their child to get in their preferred school.

Many people are willing to pay more to secure a property near a school As a result, these properties tend to go far more quickly with families that have children of schools age. 

It appears that schools are enormously important when it comes to families considering exactly where to buy. It’s also evident that parents will do their utmost for their children when it comes to their future schooling and education.
