The Hut Mersea Island CIC
When Ty, the founder of The Hut Mersea Island CIC, posted on Facebook that the hoist in one of his accessible huts had failed its LOLAR safety inspection, we at the Palmer & Partners 500 Club were quick to respond. With no mains electricity supply to the hut, a replacement hydraulic manual hoist was the only option – and at £1,862.40 new, the cost presented a real challenge. Thankfully, Ty was able to locate a second-hand alternative for £500 plus £105 delivery, bringing the total to just £605.Our Member
One of our members spotted Ty's Facebook post and sent it straight to Debbie Humphrey, our founder, who immediately brought it to the committee. Our response was unanimous – we would fund the replacement hoist in full, with the delivery costs being covered by The Hut Mersea Island CIC's Just Giving donations. It was exactly the kind of moment we exist for: supporting our local community.Mabel Hut
Ty had been on the verge of cancelling bookings for families who had been so looking forward to a fully accessible beach holiday at the beloved Mabel hut. Thanks to our support, those families can now enjoy their well-deserved break by the sea. We have been proud to support Ty and The Hut Mersea Island CIC for many years, and this contribution is a wonderful reflection of that ongoing partnership – ensuring that accessible, joyful holidays remain a reality for the families who need them most.To Donate, Apply and/or Join
