Stress free Summer holiday
Summer is the perfect time to escape the daily grind and embark on a well deserved holiday. Whether you're getting away to exotic climbs or are travelling locally for a break, ensuring your home is secure while you are away is crucial for peace of mind.Close your blinds
Whether or not to leave your blinds and curtains open or closed when away from home, is an ongoing debate. Ideally you may have trusted friends, family or neighbours who can move them during your holiday, to make your home look occupied. If you are able to get hold of a controlled lighting tool (a timer plug or a phone app you can use) this will mimic human activity and make it harder for people to determine if you're home.Good Neighbours
Are you on good terms with your neighbours? This can really help benefit when you are going away. Having an extra pair of eyes and ears to keep a look out on your property, move your refuse bins, occasionally park their car on your driveway, these can give the appearance you are there. You can return the favour as a thank you!Avoid social media
While it's tempting to share your holiday, it can advertise to that your home is empty if you have a public account. Maybe just share with family and friends, and post all your holiday photos when you are home.Security Check
Before you head out, ensure everything is secure. Double check doors and windows are locked. Set your alarm system on, if you have one. Tuck away any valuables out of sight. Unplug your electrical kitchen appliances, TV's and any gadget chargers. There are video doorbells which can provide an extra layer of security and record footage of anyone trespassing on your property.Happy Holidays
It is worth taking time to do a few proactive steps to secure your home. With these in place, you can relax and enjoy your holiday. Bon voyage!Contact Us
