On Wednesday 15th June, The 500 Club held a charity Quiz Night at Three Wise Monkeys, Colchester on behalf of Angus, a five year old boy with an amazing zest for life who has Cerebral Palsy.Angus was born in 2017 to parents, Jessica and David, who live in Colchester. Angus’ birth was roadside on the A120, a panicked delivery with no indication of what would follow. He was born without a pulse, and dad, David, phoned the ambulance who instructed him to give CPR until they arrived 10 minutes later.
The second ambulance took, mum Jessica, to hospital where they received the second shock being told they had been able to bring back a pulse. Angus was transferred to Addenbrooke's where he received intensive treatment, and after which was transferred to Colchester General where his family were adjusting to the new reality of having a disabled son.
Five years on, Angus is making amazing process. His future isn’t clear, and there isn’t a full diagnosis for him yet. The NHS has been brilliant with their support; however, they cannot provide all his much-needed care due to the expense of his treatments.
Angus’ family want to give him as much support as he can possibly have, but with this they need help with funding to do so. David gave an impassioned speech at the event; it is clear to see his parents and extended family want to give Angus all the opportunities he can have to help him live the life he deserves.
The Quiz Night raised an impressive £926 all of which will go directly towards Angus’ medical costs. It was a great night for the 500 Club with numerous local teams avidly supporting this charity event.
